Passport and ID photo maker

Passport photos are rejected for boringly consistent reasons: wrong physical size, head too small or too large in the frame, a background that is not plain, or a print that came out at the wrong scale. Only one of those is about the camera.

Size is in millimetres, not pixels. 35 × 45 mm is the standard across the UK, the EU, Pakistan, India and Australia. The United States and Canada use 2 × 2 inches — square, and not interchangeable. Everything here is built at 300 dots per inch from the real measurement, so the file prints at the right physical size rather than at whatever size a printer guesses.

The two dashed lines are the part that matters most. Almost every authority requires the head to occupy roughly 70–80% of the frame height, and head proportion is the most common rejection after background. Position the photo so the crown sits near the top line and the chin near the bottom one. A photo that looks fine and is cropped too wide will come back.

The background is placed on white, but this does not remove one. If your photo has a patterned wall or a doorway behind it, run it through the background remover first and choose the white option, then bring the result here. Doing it in that order gives a clean result; doing it the other way round does not.

The print sheet is the point of the tool. Nobody needs one 35 × 45 mm image — they need six or eight on a 4 × 6 print they can take to a shop for a few rupees and cut up. The sheet is laid out with a small gap and faint cut lines. Print it at 4 × 6 inches with scaling set to none or 100%; “fit to page” is what silently makes every photo the wrong size.

What no tool can fix is the photograph itself: neutral expression, eyes open and visible, no glare on glasses, no shadow across the face or behind the head, nothing covering the hairline. Check your country's published guidance before you print thirty copies.
